How do I set up an incoming email mailbox?

This page is showing a generic answer.

An email mailbox is an address that receives mail and stores it on our server until you read it using an email program (such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail) or our Webmail pages.

You can use either "POP" or "IMAP" mail programs with our service.

You'll probably want to create a mailbox for each person who reads email. For example, if three people named Rob, Mollie and Charlotte each need an email address, you might want to create mailboxes for rob@example.com, mollie@example.com and charlotte@example.com.

To create these kinds of addresses:

  1. Login to the “My Account” control panel (having trouble?)
  2. Click E-mail Options
  3. Click Add Mailbox
  4. Choose the email address you want to use, the password, and the spam filtering settings. The password can be different from your master account password (each address has its own password).

Your new mailbox will be working within two minutes or less. To make sure it works, try sending a message to the new address, then read that message using our Webmail pages.

Using Webmail or your own email program

If you just want to read and send mail using the Webmail pages, you're finished. If you prefer to use an email program on your own computer, such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail, see our topics explaining how to set up your mail program.
