How do I solve FrontPage publishing problems?

We occasionally hear of problems publishing with FrontPage, including "timeout" errors. These problems are usually caused by corrupted files FrontPage has created.

If you have any trouble publishing with FrontPage, try disabling then reactivating the FrontPage Server Extensions, which should delete the corrupted files.

If this doesn't fix it, also try deleting all the private FrontPage files on your Web site using an FTP program or the shell (or ask us to do so). These files are in directories with names beginning with “_vti”.

Note that following the instructions above may reset some FrontPage special features. For example, any page counters may be reset to zero.
