How can I make my site load more quickly?
The faster your website loads, the happier your visitors will be. And your search engine rankings might improve if you make your site faster.
We have fast servers and network connections on our end, but you can help, too.
First things first: Measure your page speed
You can use a free tool from WebPageTest to measure the speed of your website. The tool measures how long it takes for each item on a page to load, and gives you tips that will help you improve the speed.
Speeding things up
Several pages on our site explain how you can speed things up. If you take a look at these pages and follow the advice, you should find that the speed shown by test tools noticeably improves.
- If you use WordPress, follow our WordPress performance tips.
- If you use PHP scripts, enable FastCGI for PHP unless there's a specific problem with your scripts that prevents it.
- If you use large images, JavaScript or CSS files, use mod_expires to increase cache times on those items.
- If your Web pages are medium to large size, use mod_deflate to compress files with gzip.
