How do I use my own domain name with Weebly?

This page is showing a generic answer.
To see a more detailed answer customized for you, type your domain name here:

Weebly allows you to edit your site or blog online.

When you publish your website or blog to weebly.com, it usually ends up at an address that looks something like this:

http://example.weebly.com/

However, if you own a domain name (such as example.com) through Tiger Technologies, you can easily make your website or blog’s address appear under your domain name instead.

The rest of this page explains how to point your Web pages at Weebly without changing any email service you have through us (Weebly doesn’t provide email service):

Pointing both “example.com” and “www.example.com” at Weebly

Follow these instructions to point both “example.com” and “www.example.com” at Weebly:

  1. Login to the “My Account” control panel (having trouble?).
  2. If your account is a Web hosting account, click Domain Name Options (this step is not necessary if you don’t have Web hosting service with us).
  3. Click Edit DNS Zone.
  4. Click Add New Entry.
  5. Choose the A record option, then click Continue.
  6. Make sure that “A record for example.com” is selected, then click Continue.
  7. Enter the IP address Weebly provided you with, which will look something like 199.34.228.59.
  8. Leave the TTL value as the default. You can enter an optional descriptive note if you wish.
  9. Click Save.

Now repeat the process for “www”:

  1. Click Add New Entry.
  2. Choose the A record option, then click Continue.
  3. Choose A record for a sub-level of example.com is selected.
  4. Enter www as the hostname/label then click Continue.
  5. Enter the IP address Weebly provided you with, which will look something like 199.34.228.59.
  6. Leave the TTL value as the default. You can enter an optional descriptive note if you wish.
  7. Click Save

Finally, follow the Weebly instructions to change the Weebly site address to www.example.com. This step is important — if you forget this, Weebly won’t know which site to show, and will show an error message saying “The site you are looking for has not been published”, or a “404 — Page Not Found” error.

After you make these changes, your Weebly website should start working within 15 minutes.

Pointing “blog.example.com” (or another subdomain) at Weebly

If you only want to point a certain “subdomain” at Weebly, such as “blog.example.com”, do this instead:

  6. Choose A record for a sub-level of example.com, enter blog (or whatever subdomain you prefer) as the “hostname/label”, then click Continue.
  7. Enter the IP address Weebly provided you with, which will look something like 199.34.228.59.
  8. Leave the TTL value as the default. You can enter an optional descriptive note if you wish.
  9. Click Save.

Finally, follow the Weebly instructions to change the Weebly site address to blog.example.com (or whatever subdomain you chose). This step is important — if you forget this, Weebly won’t know which site to show, and will show an error message saying “The site you are looking for has not been published”.
