Why doesn’t my “bgsound” HTML element work?

Customers occasionally tell us they used the HTML “bgsound” element to add a background sound to a web page, but it isn’t working.

This is because the “bgsound” element is non-standard and only works in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. It doesn’t work in other browsers. The Microsoft documentation for it says “This element is obsolete and should no longer be used. Use audio instead.”

So if you’re using “bgsound” on your pages, you should convert it to the audio tag instead to make it work properly on all browsers.
