What information do I need to register a domain name?

If you want to register a domain name to use with another company's Web hosting service, you'll need to know the names of two DNS name servers (sometimes just called DNS servers or name servers), as well as the usual contact information.

The Web hosting company you are using will provide these names, which usually look something like ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com. You'll enter the names on our sign up form.

The hosting company may also provide you with some IP address numbers that have dots in them; if so, they will look something like 192.168.1.254. We do not need or use these numbers, and you can simply ignore them.

You only need to enter the names of the DNS name servers if you're buying a domain name from us and using it with another hosting company, or running your own Web servers. You don't need to know any of this information if Tiger Technologies will be hosting your website, or if you're just "parking" the domain name: We take care of all the DNS name server details in those cases.
